In order to develop Scientific Awareness as well as to include and popularise science amidst the students and the common people of Purulia, National Council of Science Museums, Govt. of India, established District Science Centre, Purulia in the year 1982 at the North side of beatiful 'Saheb Bundh'. The main objective is to popularise science through fun.

For small children there is a Children's gallery and a Science Park , where they can learn facts of science through play-way. There is also some animals like Deer, Python, Rabbit, Monkey, etc and some exibits on Solar Energy in the Science Park. To know Purulia, come to the gallery named "Wealth of Purulia" in which you can see cultural heritage, tourist spots, industry, forest of Purulia etc.

General Information

  • Open on all days except Diwali & Holi
  • Timing: 10:30 AM to 06:00 PM(August-March), 11:30 AM to 07:00 PM(April to July)
  • Entry Fee: Rs. 3/- per head for the general public
  • Re.1/- per student for organised school group(free entry for teachers with students group)
  • Camera- Rs.5/- per camera(to snap inside the centre)
